essent
essentは、壁掛け時計の機能と素材に根本から向き合うことから生まれました。
時計には、時間を示す12進法と、分と秒を示す60進法が共存しています。
しかし多くの壁掛け時計は、1から12の時間を示す数字のみが記されています。
そこで、それぞれの数字を自然な形で分かりやすく示すスタンダードな壁掛け時計を目指し、デザインされました。
essentでは、2種の数字を記すだけでなく2種類の色彩を用いることで、より明確な差分を示しています。
時間を示す時針と1から12の数字、分／秒を示す分針と秒針そして0から55の数字。
それぞれの色彩をリンクさせることで、より直感的に時間を認識できます。
また、クリーンな印象と高い視認性をもったオリジナル書体を創り出しました。
essentは素材にもこだわっています。
文字盤への「印刷」に着目し、印刷の原点といえる凸版印刷の技法と表現から着想を得ています。文字盤には厚手の紙を用い、そこに2種類の箔押しと空押しが加えられています。
それによって、これまでにはない豊かな深みと表情をそなえています。
機能と素材に本質的に向き合うことで生まれたessentは、こどもからおとなまで読みやすく、どんな空間にも馴染みます。
